In addition to the Overview information provided for Water Quality, the Agriculture and Wastewater Workgroups have described their priorities and progress in the tabs below. Other important work is being conducted by the Chesapeake Bay Program partnership to restore water quality by implementing pollution reduction practices on urban and suburban lands and reducing pollution deposited in the watershed from the air. Additional information on these efforts will be included over time. Progress in implementing the Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) and in achieving milestones set at the 2009 Executive Council Meeting is also described below.
Best Management Practice Review
The Chesapeake Bay jurisdictions implement Best Management Practices (BMPs) to achieve the goals set forth in the 2010 TMDL. Through the Protocol for Development, Review and Approval of Loading and Effectiveness Estimates for Nutrient and Sediment Controls, newer practices and technologies are considered and evaluated for inclusion in the Chesapeake Bay Program partnership modeling tools. Existing practices are re-evaluated to ensure they reflect the best available scientific data and information. Below is a table depicting the BMPs identified for review and the status of those reviews.

** The order of BMPs listed in the table may not reflect the launch order of future panels, which is decided by the respective sector workgroup.
*** BMP Panels' next steps and expected report dates are subject to change.
Each sector workgroup has identified a number of BMPs to review through the BMP Review Protocol. More detail on the practices identified by the Agriculture Workgroup can be found in the Strategies and Performance Assessment sections of the Agriculture Workgroup.
Note: If at any point in this process a proposed practice does not fully address the requirements set forth by the protocol, it may be returned to the associated panel, sector workgroup, and/or technical workgroups. The Water Quality Goal Implementation Team may elect to work directly with the responsible sector workgroup to meet the protocol requirements for proposed practices, as well as to initiate specific practice evaluations. This process is further detailed in the Protocol for the Development, Review and Approval of Loading and Effectiveness Estimates for Nutrient and Sediment Controls in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Model.
